OLUDENIZ

Ölüdeniz is a neighborhood located in Fethiye district of Muğla province. We can compare Ölüdeniz to a lake without waves like its name. Even on very high stormy and choppy days, only small flutters occur in the Dead Sea. Ölüdeniz beach was chosen as the most beautiful beach in the world with eighty-two percent of votes in 2006.

OLUDENIZ HISTORY

It tells the story of a father and son who make a living by fishing and selling them. The father and son go fishing around Ölüdeniz, and the storm, which is more than expected, makes them nervous. The storm intensifies and his son says that there is a bay ahead and they can take shelter there, but the father is a fisherman for years and insists that there is no bay there. The father angrily hits his son and his son is dragged into the sea. On the one hand, his son's pain and on the other hand, he becomes very uneasy with the fear of death. After the time has passed, he cannot bear this pain, and he kills himself on the spot with the regret that comes right after.

BELCEKIZ LEGEND

Belcekiz is another region near Ölüdeniz. Unlike Ölüdeniz, the water here is more choppy and dense. Perhaps it refers to the legend of the fisherman and his son. Sailors used to come to this bay to rest and drink. Once a sailor came to this creek with his son to draw water. The moment the sailor enters the beautiful bay, sees a beautiful girl and gives her heart, the girl is also impressed by him, but he has to go back. They have been thinking from afar for years and love each other in their dreams. Every time the ship approaches the bay, the girl looks from afar and smiles when she sees it. One day, during a big storm, his son asks his father to come ashore by a stream. The name Belcekiz comes from here.
